CFA: FLAS Fellowships, Summer 2018 and AY 2018–19

FLAS Fellowships are awards for graduate students concentrating on modern foreign language and international/area studies. Students may apply for funding for language and area studies coursework on campus during the academic year, and for intensive language programs at UChicago or offered by other institutions (in the US or abroad) during the summer. In the 2018–19 competition cycle, UChicago is offering fellowships in five world areas: East Asia, East Europe, Latin America, Middle East, and South Asia. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

The funding for Summer 2018 FLAS Fellowships is guaranteed. FLAS funding for the Academic Year 2018-19 is contingent on the University of Chicago’s renewed funding from the U.S. Department of Education. Awards cannot be issued without Congressional budgetary approval and formal funding notification from the U.S. Department of Education, which will be announced by Autumn Quarter 2018.

Online FLAS applications are available now via Slate.
Application deadline: Monday, February 12, 2018
