The Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) Working Papers series provides rapid dissemination of high quality, previously unpublished research first presented at the University of Chicago by CLAS-affiliated students, faculty, and visiting scholars. Electronic publication of Working Papers facilitates broad dissemination to a wide audience of social science and humanities researchers and to those interested in Latin American affairs.

The CLAS Working Paper series is juried by a committee of our affiliated faculty and edited by an advanced graduate student. To be considered for publication in the CLAS Working Paper series:

  • The paper must be of publishable quality and contain original ideas and research
  • The individual submitting the paper for consideration must be formally affiliated with the Center for Latin American Studies
  • Scholars who present papers at CLAS-sponsored workshops, seminars, or conferences may be invited by faculty to submit a paper for publication

CLAS Working Papers are browsable by title and author below. Title links lead to an abstract of the paper and instructions for downloading the full text paper. Keyword search of the full Working Paper collection and Subscription to the Working Paper series via RSS Feed are also available. New Working Paper publications will be announced via the CLAS home page and email Listservs.
