Congratulations to CLAS affiliates Larissa Brewer-García and Danielle Roper!

Larissa Brewer-García’s 2020 book Beyond Babel: Translations of Blackness in Colonial Peru and New Granada has been awarded the American Historical Association's Friedrich Katz Prize, awarded annually to the best book published in English on Latin America, including the Caribbean.

Danielle Roper’s article “Tambourine Army: Sonic Disruptions and the Politics of Respectability” has been awarded honorable mention for the Toni Cade Bambara Article prize for best article in the field of Black Women’s Studies by the Black Women’s Studies Association.
