Disaster Relief

Out of concern for the suffering and despair left in the wake of the Mexican earthquakes and Caribbean hurricanes, the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures (RLL) and the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) are collecting donations to support relief efforts. In Mexico City, Morelos, Puebla, Dominica, Puerto Rico and many other locales, there is a great need for our help and solidarity.

If you wish to make a donation, you may bring a check (made out to: National Museum of Mexican Art with Chicago for Mexico & Puerto Rico Relief Fund) or cash to the RLL office located in Wieboldt 205, or to the University of Chicago Language Center (located on the second floor of Cobb) any time before Friday, November 3.  All donations made in person will be brought to the National Museum of Mexican Art.

In addition, the following organizations have mobilized to channel aid reliably to those who need it most, and are equipped to accept online donations. We hope you will consider giving what you can to one of these organizations or to an organization of your choice.
